Let’s make a few things clear.
They were always looking for a reason. Mere intimidation isn’t enough for bullies. They want to “make an example” and “send a message.” Mostly, they nut over causing others physical pain. They weren’t going to be happy until there was blood on the ground. A lot of people’s blood.
But this action shows the regime’s weakness, not its strength. Der Orangeführer was outed as a chicken by Wall Street, and he lost his bromance with the world’s richest drug addict who funded his return to the White House. He wasn’t delivering the mass deportations he promised his voters, and the people he deported were returning to the US by court order.
ICE has always used stealth in their raids, and past administrations deported people without public knowledge. Under this regime, ICE isn’t just for immigration enforcement. These masked deputized J6ers are intended for intimidation—not just of undocumented migrants, but of all people. They went into that Home Depot as loud and proud boys, not just to round up anyone who didn’t look white enough, but to scare off anyone who would try to intervene.
Except they messed with the wrong city.
I am Los Angeles born and raised. Pick up any of my novels that go on and on about Reseda, and you’ll see what I mean. We are a city that deals with wildfires every year and goes through a major earthquake or two during our lifetimes. We will sit in traffic for hours to go five miles and just consider it an opportunity to catch up on our audiobooks. We dream big, work hard, and live large. We gave the world Hollywood, Kendrick Lamar, and the hot fudge sundae. Although we are a spread-out city divided by geography, freeways, income, and cultures, we come together when our neighbors need help.
Like right now.
So the Demander-in-Chief thinks he can bully Los Angeles the same way an actual monarch, King George III, did to Boston 255 years ago. We Angelenos know when someone is a two-bit punk and how to stand up to them. You want to call those protests violent? You should see what we do when the Dodgers win the World Series. This isn’t 1965 or 1992. We know what we’re up against and what’s the most effective way to respond.
And as someone who had happy memories of when the Olympics were here in 1984, I’m willing to sacrifice the 2028 Games and the 2026 World Cup if it will crush the tyrant’s ego enough to stop his invasion of our city. That’s how much we love our city and our freedom.
We are proud of our Indigenous and Hispanic heritage, our state, and our identity as Americans. We will not let those bullies destroy our country and the values brave Angelenos of all backgrounds fought and died for.
Let’s make something clear: Don’t mess with Los Angeles.
