Fun a Day Reseda – The Amiga beta is here!

Amiga beta coverWell, that didn’t take long.

I now have a draft of the second novel I wrote in 2016 ready for feedback from beta readers. (To answer your first bit of feedback: Yes, the cover will be improved. This is just a temporary for the ePub version.)

So, what’s Amiga and the Amiga all about?

Amiga tells the story of Laura Rodriguez as a 24-year-old starting her computer programming career and as a 55-year-old going through family and career crises.

In 1985, Laura leaves her home in Reseda with a new master’s degree in computer science to look for a job in Silicon Valley. She contends with racial and sexual discrimination until she finds a job working at a startup run by a quirky family in San Rafael. She accepts the low pay and strange working conditions because she gets to work with a groundbreaking new computer, the Commodore Amiga.

In 2016, Laura faces a variety of crises. Her daughter has cancer, her son has left a six-figure programming job to become a DJ, and she has a new boss at work who is half her age. Meanwhile, the most divisive election in American history creates stress at both home and work. These problems put a strain on her marriage, especially when a former lover reenters her life. Laura must face her past to deal with her present situation.

And what is the Amiga? You can read about my experience with the Amiga 500 in the late 1980s, but if you want to learn more about this incredible computer, check out the new documentary Viva Amiga, which is available now for purchase and rent on most popular online video services.

And if you want to be a beta reader for my novel Amiga, please fill out the form below. I have versions in ePub and PDF. (Sorry, no Kindle or print at this time.) Note that my Amiga novel has mature content.
