Ever hear of the Little Free Library? If you haven’t, it’s a worthwhile program that encourages reading and builds communities. If you’re a writer, it’s also a good way to get the word out about your books.
Recently, I visited a new Little Free Library in my community of Lake Forest, California. I wanted to see one in person and donate a copy of my book Mastering Table Topics. Let’s take a look.
This Little Free Library is at the Lake Forest Sports Park in a central area near the tot lot, community center, and soccer fields. I had to walk around the playground, but I found it! (Click any of the following photos to view full-size.)
The Little Free Library was completed as a Silver Award project by these area Girl Scouts.
Let’s take a look inside. The Little Free Library includes a variety of books for children and adults. They are all donated by people from the community.
Now, it’s time for me to make my donation.
And why not make it an autographed copy…
Here’s hoping someone took it home to read…and brought some books of their own.
To find a Little Free Library in your community, visit the Little Free Library website. It also has information about how to start one if your community doesn’t have one. Whether you’re an author or not, consider making donations of your books to keep people reading.
