National Novel Writing Month 2004I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) for the first time this year. My novel describes how a teenage boy's innocent game with friends takes a bizarre and life-changing turn. On this page, you can see how I'm progressing on my book. Words to DateThe goal of NaNoWriMo is to write a 50,000-word rough draft of a novel in 30 days. The emphasis is on rough. These don't have to be polished words or even completely readable ones. You just have to get the words on the page – the key to getting any novel started. This chart shows how I'm progressing so far towards the 50,000-word goal. The magenta line shows my daily target of 1,667 words towards my overall goal. The blue line showing my actual words to date will appear when I start writing. As you can see, on November 28, 2004, I surpassed the goal with 51,513 words.
