The Magic Passover Plate
by Stephanie Stern We all know that on a Passover plate there
are eight items, which include haroset, shank bone, hard-boiled egg, matzos,
parsley, salt water, and an orange. The plate is the same every year. Right?
Wrong. The plate has the same items on it every year. Right? Wrong.
One year, our Passover plate became magic! It all started on Saturday at
my Grandma's house. Everything was just the way it was every year.
We were about to start the Seder when I heard someone whispering to me.
It was coming from the kitchen. I ran there quickly. It was the Passover
plate!
It said, "Do not tell anyone this, but this year when Grandma breaks the
matzos in half, something wonderful will happen!"
"Tell me what it is!" I cried.
The plate told me he couldn't and that it's a surprise.
Grandma came in and laughed, "Stop talking to the Passover plate! I have
to take it to the table." The plate winked at me.
I couldn't wait for Grandma to break the matzos! I was practically
jumping in my seat while we were saying the prayers.
Then she broke the matzos. I held my breath. CRACK, SHATTER, SPRINKLE!
Glitter fluttered out when she broke it. It swirled around and made a huge
Passover plate. Then it fell on the table.
I smiled at the plate and the plate smiled back at me. It was the BEST
night ever! Related Topics
