Who is Matthew Arnold Stern? I am an award-winning writer and public speaker. I have been writing professionally since 1983 as a technical writer, publicist, and journalist. I wrote a guide to impromptu speaking, Mastering Table Topics and four novels: Offline, Doria, and the new books The Remainders and Amiga. I’m currently writing a new novel, Snow in Los Angeles.
My achievements include a Distinguished Toastmaster award from Toastmasters International, a Distinguished Technical Communications award from the Orange County Society of Technical Communication, and an Award of Excellence from the International Online Communications Competition. I have given speeches at technical conferences including the Society for Technical Communication and WritersUA.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated valedictorian from Reseda High School. I earned a Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from California State University, Northridge in 1985. I’m married with two children, a granddaughter, and lots of cats.
